The “Think Piece” Podcast: Thinking Out Loud

When thoughts become things.

I never imagined myself creating and hosting a podcast—not in a million years. That's exactly why I try to avoid using the words never and always. They feel like promises we were never meant to keep.

I never imagined I’d become a writer either. Just more proof that life rarely unfolds the way we think it will.

I started writing when I finally found—and reclaimed—my voice. A voice that had been trained to stay silent, to speak only when spoken to. A voice that was never meant to question, never meant to resist. But that silencing? It went against everything I was. Everything I am. And I think that’s why, for so long, I felt uncomfortable in my own skin.

As much as I love writing, I started to feel like it wasn’t enough.

There were thoughts I wanted to expand on.

Things I needed to say out loud.

Ideas I wanted to bounce off of someone. Maybe even share with others.

That’s how Think Piece was born.

Throughout my dating history, I’d hear the same thing from men over and over again: “I don’t usually talk on the phone this long.”

Three or four hours. Deep conversations. Unexpected vulnerability. Laughter. I am a hoot.

It wasn’t something they were used to. But for me? That’s just a regular Tuesday.

Face-to-face, it was the same thing—conversations that went deep into the night. And my friends know this well. It’s just how I connect. I’ve never been someone who hangs out in the shallow end of the water. If you’re willing to go deep? I’ll grab the snorkel, and we will deep dive in those waters.

Don’t get me wrong, I can do the whole:

"How was your day?"

“What’s your favorite movie?”

“Where are you from?”

“Pancakes or waffles?”

But that kind of talk can only hold my attention for so long.

I wanted to recreate the vibe of those late-night, soul-baring conversations. I wanted a place where those kinds of talks could live, grow, and be shared. Turns out, that place was a podcast.

A space to invite all sorts of people. A space to share stories, perspectives, and truth. A space for open-hearted conversation.

And it’s been magical. There’s something incredibly gratifying about watching your vision become real—watching something that once lived only in your imagination begin to take shape in the world.

Cracked Wide Open

Episode 4 is titled Cracked Wide Open—because that’s exactly what happened.

It’s my first solo podcast—just me. No guest.

And in it, I go deeper into how—and why—Think Piece was born.

I’d planned to do this episode for a while. But I knew it would require a level of vulnerability I had to be ready to meet. And honestly? I wasn’t sure I was there yet.

I usually drop new episodes every two weeks. And I had one ready for this week—an incredible conversation that was supposed to kick off a new series called Beauty Unfiltered. My guest was phenomenal. She showed up with honesty and so much raw truth. But wouldn’t you know it… a tech glitch wrecked her audio. Her voice barely came through. The episode had to be scrapped.

I was disappointed. And I didn’t see any way to re-record it in time.

I had a couple of backup episodes I could’ve released. But then something happened that cracked me wide open—and I knew this was the moment.

Not the one I had planned.

Not the one I thought I’d feel “ready” for.

But the one that had already been written in time.

That date? June 13th, 2025.

That was always going to be the day.

The day I sat in front of the mic and spoke from the rawest part of myself.

A place of vulnerability, truth, wisdom, hope… and love.

The kind of love that comes after the storm.

The kind that has nothing left to prove.

The kind that simply says: I’m here.

If you’re curious, you can listen to Cracked Wide Open now.

I’ll leave you with this thought:

"When the world turns its back on you… You turn your back on the world!" - Timon.

(Just kidding) 😂 Here's the real one:

"Develop enough courage so that you can stand up for yourself—and then stand up for someone else."

– Maya Angelou
